Le Madeira Swimrun, réputé pour ses défis uniques et ses paysages à couper le souffle, est un événement annuel depuis 2017. Souvent appelée « la perle de l'Atlantique », Madère est célèbre pour son climat doux, ses magnifiques reliefs montagneux et ses eaux cristallines. Ce cadre parfait, influencé par le courant chaud du golfe du Mexique, en fait une destination idéale pour les sports de nature tout au long de l'année, avec une température moyenne de la mer de 22 °C en été et de 18 °C en hiver. Les participants au Madeira Swimrun commencent leur aventure en débarquant par la mer à Ponta de São Lourenço, l'un des sites les plus emblématiques de l'île, entouré de falaises spectaculaires et d'un littoral accidenté. De là, les athlètes se dirigent vers Caniçal et Machico, affrontant des parcours difficiles comme l'ascension du Pico do Facho et traversant la mer entre Prainha et Ribeira do Natal. Ce parcours Swimrun est réputé pour sa diversité, combinant des défis terrestres et maritimes qui exigent endurance, habileté et appréciation de la beauté naturelle de l'île.
