The Bombay Marathon is a sporting event in India, born thanks to the Singh brothers and Mumbai, and came to life in 2004 with 22,000 runners at the inaugural edition. Beyond performance, the event raises funds for Indian associations. The course showcases the city and iconic sites such as Flora Fountain, St. Michael’s Church, and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link bridge, with various distances (42.195 km, 2.4 km wheelchair, 4.3 km seniors, 6 km and half marathon).

For a little anecdote, the race was born thanks to the Singh brothers (Anil and Vivek) who attended the London Marathon in 2003 and wanted to create a sporting event of the same scale back in India. Their choice quickly settled on the city of Mumbai where they already had the offices of their event management company. It was in 2004 that the project came to fruition with no fewer than 22,000 runners taking the start of the inaugural Tata Mumbai Marathon 🔥. Since its creation, the main objective of the event has been to raise funds for Indian charitable organizations that help the poorest.
The marathon route showcases the city, so you’ll be able to admire many landmarks along the way, such as the Flora Fountain, the St. Michael’s Church, not to mention the famous Bandra-Worli Sea Link which will give you a dazzling panorama over Mumbai and the Indian Ocean 😍.
In addition to the legendary 42.195 km, several distances are offered: a 2.4 km (wheelchair race), a 4.3 km (reserved for seniors), a 6 km and a half-marathon. In short, there’s something for every taste and level—pick the race that will best celebrate this sporting event!
