In Cheverny, in the Loir-et-Cher, the Marathon de Cheverny and the Trail des Châteaux de la Loire invite you to run along the heritage roads: 5 km, 10 km, half marathon and marathon (solo and relay), as well as 14, 34.7 and 63 km of trail. Up to 400 m D+ while skirting castles, manors and the park of Cheverny Castle, followed by a quick or gourmet refreshment and a finish on a red carpet.
Come watch the Château de Moulinsart 🏰, home of the famous Captain Haddock in Tintin! It’s indeed the Château de Cheverny that inspired Hergé to draw the character’s residence. So the appointment is set in Cheverny, in the Loir-et-Cher, for the Cheverny Marathon and the Loire Valley Castles Trail. The races take place in April with temperatures around 10 degrees. Let’s go, a thousand saboteurs! ⚓
Several race distances on the road are on the program: 5 km, 10 km, half marathon and marathon (solo and relay). Additionally 3 trails of 14 km, 34.7 km (the little Loire Valley Castles Trail) and another of 63 km named the Loire Valley Castles Trail. Across the three races, you’ll reach up to 400 mD+ while exploring the Loire heritage: its castles, its manors or its vestiges 🤩 You’ll also run through the town of Blois and catch a glimpse of its basilica
For the races, whatever your choice, you’ll start from the Château de Cheverny. You’ll also meet the Château de Troussay and you’ll even be able to choose your refueling: quick for competitors and gastronomic for food lovers 😋. You’ll run along the Cheverny Golf Club and you might even enter at the same time the castle park 🏞️ with its century-old cedars. Next up, a gastronomic refueling and a triumphant finish on the red carpet in the Château de Cheverny 🎊. What an adventure, you bunch of Bachibouzouks!
Once at the village marathon, enjoy a friendly vibe in a wonderful setting. Maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of the shadows of Tintin, Snowy and Haddock 😉.
For sightseeing in the area, no need to go far, all the monuments you’ll glimpse during your race are worth a closer look. And to savor local, go for a slice of tarte tatin and a spoonful of miel de Sologne 🍯.
