Put on your sneakers 👟, your k-way and don’t forget your lucky clover… 🍀 Welcome to Ireland ! 🇮🇪
The Dublin Marathon is the 4th largest marathon in Europe 🇪🇺. It takes place every year in October, since 1980, and more than 20,000 participants from 60 different nationalities are present! 🌍 Also called the "marathon of friendship" 🤝 or the "friendly marathon" 😁, it is, among other things, famous for its energetic crowd and encouragement 📣. Some even hand out snacks. With that, no slump, it’s guaranteed! 😉 Moreover, there are many spectator spots 👏 along the route. You have no excuse to finish your race with a smile from ear to ear 👂, like a little Irish sprite! 🧚♂️
If you’re an early riser, this race is for you! 💪 For this course, the route forms a loop of 42.195 km right in the heart 💚 of the Irish capital 🍻. The start will be on Fitzwilliam Street Upper 📍 and the finish is planned at Merrion Square North 🏁. The circuit is mainly on the road 🛣️. Along this loop 🔁, you’ll be able to admire stunning Irish heritage monuments. But beware, the 42 km Dublin Marathon is no walk in the park since part of it is on an incline 📈. Don’t panic! It hasn’t stopped some from breaking records ⏱️, like the Ethiopian Kemal Husen, who finished in 2 hours, 6 minutes and 52 seconds, or the Russian Tatyana Aryasova in 2 hours, 26 minutes and 13 seconds 😮. If you’re a bit slower than them (we’re not doubting your abilities 😉), you’ll still get to admire the authentic character that this large city with a human scale has preserved 😌. You might even spot one of the zoo animals from Dublin Zoo poking its head out 👃 as you pass by 🐯.
If you’re lucky, you’ll get to meet the famous green leprechaun, the Leprechaun 😜. Each year, the Dublin Marathon celebrates a character or an Irish event. Moreover, this year the marathon is supported by Irish Life, which raises funds for charities to help the sick and hospitalized 😷. There is thus a charitable aspect to the competition 🫶. Once your medal 🥇 is around your neck, there’s only a few more meters to walk to reach a famous pub, a Guinness in hand 🍻. The party won’t be missed in the streets of Dublin at night 🌃, so make sure to experience it 100% and learn to dance the jig 💃 with the locals 🤪. And if you’re a bit hungry, you can try the famous Irish Stew! 🍲
If you’re itching to race along the Dublin streets at full speed, listening to the sound of the harps and the Halloween 🎃 preparations, come and start the Dublin Marathon! 🏃♀️
