Meet at Barfleur, in the Manche, for the Barfleur Point Marathon in midsummer. Two distances are available: the Barfleuraise 21 km and the marathon 42 km, on a flat yet varied course that hugs the Manche coast and passes through a few authentic villages. A festive atmosphere, typical Norman landscapes, and moments to enjoy the sea air and coastal views.

Meet us at Barfleur in the Manche department of Normandy for the Marathon of the Pointe de Barfleur. In mid-August, it’s probably the best time to run (especially in Normandy!). Ideal temperatures despite changeable weather, you’ll still run along the sea, which is really pretty. Two distances to choose from: the Barfleuraise of 21 km and the marathon of Barfleur of 42 km.
The village has a rich history to boast about, its first inhabitants were ...vikings! Leave the mead and the shield at your side 🛡️, and head to the start of the race, on the Port of Barfleur, a symbolic spot on the east coast of the Cotentin. A loop that’s fairly easy and flat awaits you, with terrain changes that can be tricky, alternating between sand and road. You’ll run for a long stretch along the coastal edges of the Manchecoasts, and it has more than one twist in store 😆. Its view is sublime and quintessentially Normandy, but also its authentic villages that line the coast. You’ll even pass through a few, like Gatteville-Phare or even VolvVicq-sur-Mer. As for your pace, you can move with the rhythm of the waves 🌊 but you’re not allowed to hop aboard your drakkar Viking. A few little steps in the sand will bring you even closer to the sea and let you feel the sea air. Take a deep breath, enjoy the view, and you’ll be pumped to finish the race. As for the vibe, we promise it will be at least as loud and festive as Ragnar and his companions’ banquets 🎉
Now, on to the food! In Normandy, you’ll have plenty to savor. We hope you’ll do justice to the Norman cheeses 🧀, the scallops and the cider. To digest it all, we suggest a little stroll at the port of Cherbourg, about a thirty-minute ride away. Did you know this port had the second largest rade in the world? Crazy, right? 🤪
