The story of this marathon began in 2011, the year of its inaugural edition which brought together no less than 10,000 runners. At the helm of this event is José Eduardo Calzada Rovirosa, governor of the State of Querétaro and a running enthusiast. The latter, who competed in the New York Marathon, dreamed of organizing such an event in the capital of his state. He managed to bring this project to fruition, and it was quickly certified by all national and international bodies ✅.
The Querétaro Marathon will take you running through the heart of the city, whose historic center is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1996. Step by step, there’s no doubt you’ll be won over by the colonial architecture and the civil and religious buildings with flamboyant façades in this Mexican gem 😍.
