In Brazil, the Sao Paulo International Marathon is about to celebrate its 29th edition in April, bringing together more than 20,000 runners from many nationalities across three formats: marathon, half-marathon, and shorter distances such as the 5k or 10k. Running through the streets of São Paulo and its iconic spots, the event promises an immersion in the city’s cultural energy, between sport and discovery.
Oh yes, in Brazil there isn’t just samba 💃🏼 and its wild dance steps! It’s in the Paulistanos (residents of Sao Paulo 🤓) that, in April the upcoming, the Marathon International de Sao Paulo. This year it will celebrate its 29th edition 🎂. This event brings together more than 20,000 runners and gathers a very large mix of nationalities 🌎. To participate, you’ll have three formats to choose from! If you’re into long distances, you can take on the marathon that passes through the most beautiful places of the "Sampa". Otherwise, you can opt for the mythical semi-marathon 😎. And if you’re really eager to explore Avenida Paulista or the Pacaembu Stadium 🏟️, treat yourself to the 10k or the 5 km!
If Sao Paulo isn’t the capital of Brazil, it’s definitely the culture 🖼️ hub with a very rich historic center. It’s also the largest city in the country and one of the world's major megacities, with 12.5 million inhabitants! 🤯 This will be here, in April, at the foot of the magnificent Obelisco do Ibirapuera, you’ll dive into an autumn atmosphere in the lively streets of the fifth city of the contient américain. In just a few kilometers you’ll shift from urban vibes to wild scenery thanks to the greenery along the course. Your legs are likely to heat up as the course will include a few climbs, adding a touch of pimenta malagueta to your experience 🌶️.
The Brazilians are generous, so you’ll understand that this course will be rich in surprises and discoveries! You’ll need to run with your eyes and heart wide open to join in the dance (not just samba) that this marathon can offer you 🎁. Along your route you’ll encounter dance troupes and musicians. It’ll feel like you’re a real sambista and, why not, believe in your talent as a dancer and runner… 🏃
After your race, you can let yourself be carried away by the Paulistano neighborhood of the Vila Madalena, lively by day and by night, where you’ll always find something to do. If you want to feast your eyes, we suggest stopping by Beco do Batman Street 🦇 with its many colorful graffiti. To awaken your palate, there’s nothing better than heading to the Mercado (the municipal market for those who haven’t figured it out), where you can try all the local specialties. And what could be better for a finisher, than imagining savoring a delicious Feijoada 🥘 in this marvelous megapolis…
