About this event

In Würzburg, in the Bavarian county, the Würzburg Marathon brings together about 5,000 runners and more than 25 music groups along a multidisciplinary course. Choose from the marathon, the relay, the half marathon, and shorter distances (3 and 10 km) to stroll through the city center along the Main, while discovering the historic setting and local culture. A festive running experience blending sport, music, and heritage.

"Alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei" 🌭 as the famous German singer Stephan Remmler said in 1986. In case German isn’t your first language, here’s the translation just here "All things come to an end, only the sausage has two". A brilliant quip by Steph, but a quote that makes perfect sense in the marathon context. And trust us, you’ll be glad you only have to cross a single finish line 😮‍💨.

A running aficionado with a taste for architecture 🏛️ or a fondness for good wines 🍷, you’ll surely find your happiness in the picturesque Franconian wine country. In May, under the first sunbeams 🌞 of the season, the city of Würzburg welcomes you inside its medieval walls for a truly running experience 🤩. Renowned for its cultural and artistic heritage, 5,000 runners from all backgrounds gather here every year. The Würzburg Marathonis more than just a sports event; it’s a real local celebration 🎉. More than 25 music groups will be there to set the mood along the entire course. Whether it’s snowing, raining, or windy 💨, be ready to dance, sing, and celebrate your result 💪. The Germans know how to show hospitality, and you’ll notice it soon 😉.

On the technical side, organizers offer 4 distinct distances. If you’re chasing records and the fame 🥇, you can start by aiming for the marathon. The flat route 🚗 will guide you through the city for more than 42 km in 2 fast laps 🔄. Are you intimidated by such a distance (which is totally understandable 😅)? You can also split the distance into teams of Power Rangers 🦸‍♂️. Register only for the "Marathon Relay", and your legs will handle the rest 🦵. You can also find a "Semi-Marathon" course that lets you set a new PR on an official distance of 21.0975 km. For the shy 🙈, two shorter routes of 3 km and 10 km are also offered. Whatever your final choice, you’ll wander for many kilometers through the city center, along the winding course of the Main and traversing the impressive German Unity Bridges and the Konrad-Adenauer. But don’t get swept away by the view and these peaceful banks—the arrival line and its ample rest stops await you 🏃.

Once you’ve earned the finish, it’s time to unwind and explore 🧘. Würzburg is full of surprises and non-sport activities 🤪, you won’t be bored. As mentioned, if you’re an architecture fan, you’re in for a treat! The Marienberg Fortress is sure to capture your heart 💓. Built originally in the year 704, it today forms a central pillar of the city's history 🏙️. Continuing with the historic tours, you can also linger at the Würzburg Residence 🏡, an former princely palace, listed as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO 🌍. If you step outside the city a bit, you’ll find a whole host of trails, perfect for a post‑race recovery hike 🥾. The wide fields of vines on the Bavarian slopes make for prime playgrounds ✅. The city is also known for its student life, and the nightlife is well developed ✨. You’ll have as much fun by day as by night 🌙. Finally, if you want to extend your trip, head to the cities of Frankfurt 🏰 or Nuremberg, located about a hundred kilometers from the Bavarian city. These two big cities are full of wonders and monuments to visit (like the

So if you love music 🎶, the party, and all things German in all its splendor, grab your tickets for this sausage race! 🎟️
