The Landes Marathon offers a festive and unconventional course starting from Mont-de-Marsan, between the Landes forest and a friendly atmosphere. In addition to the traditional 42.195 km, three other distances are added: 10 km, a half marathon, and a team marathon of three to run with friends or family. Expect a lively race with music groups along the course and passages through iconic locations in the city.
You’re probably thinking it’s impossible to find a place that’s halfway between the mountains and the ocean, and on top of that with a splendid forest nearby. If you don’t know Mont-de-Marsan! The Pyrenees chain to the South, the Atlantic Ocean to the West, and the Forêt des Landes on its edge with its countless maritime pines lined up, it would be missing only that a running race exists and voila, paradise on earth... Hold on! Don’t tell us that isn’t true! A festive and unconventional marathon starting from Mont-de-Marsan in Landes, in October? Well, Nouvelle-Aquitaine is beautiful 😉.
There isn’t only the Mont-de-Marsan Marathon and its traditional 42.195 km, three other distances are offered: the 10 km, the Mont-De-Marsan half marathon and the full marathon but team of three this time. For this last event, one runner starts, then is joined by a companion at the half-marathon stage they’ll have to cover, and the last one joins for the remaining 10 km. Have you got it? In any case, it’s the perfect way to run with friends or family regardless of everyone’s level 🤜🤛.
The Landes Marathon is the chance to discover the department’s capitalthe city of three rivers especially thanks to its three rivers you’ll have guessed (La Douze, La Midouze and the Midou). Mont-de-Marsanis a hotspot for the rugby in the South-West, there’s a reputation to uphold, but the tackles are banned during the race, sorry. On the bright side you’ll get to enjoy a festive and friendly vibe worthy of a 3rd half as we love it, with performances and bands playing along the course. Plus, you’ll get to pass through quirky spots like the stadiumarenas or the town center, before finishing your race on the lovely Place Saint-Roch 🤩.
Running is life, but so is gastronomy! You can’t leave without enjoying a good old-school poultry dish and foie gras, of course. And for dessert, how about a bit of pastis. But not the drink! We’re talking about Landes pastis, the small brioche-like pastries flavored with orange blossom and rum. In the Southwest we love to party, so if you don’t know the férias and the Landes races you’ll have to get into it! 🎉
