About this event
In Nouméa, New Caledonia, the Mobil International Marathon offers a historic experience along the west coast, starting from the Hippodrome Henri Milliard. Three courses are available: 10 km Tokuyama, a half marathon, or a marathon, all set in a scenery between lagoon and the beaches of Anse Vata Bay. Expect iconic island landscapes, such as Lemon Bay and the Sail Rock, with a sporty and festive atmosphere in the capital.

Overseas Territory located in the Pacific Ocean, New Caledonia has plenty of surprises in store. Its famous race, the Mobil International Marathon, takes place every year since 1983 (the last win by a Frenchman at Roland Garros) on the west coast, along the lagoon and the bays of the island’s capital Nouméa 🏝️. We hope you’re not too cold-blooded, since this race happens during the austral winter in August, under temperatures around twenty degrees! ☀️
Regarding the courses, three options are available. The 10 km Tokuyama will let you discover part of the coast. To push yourself even further, you can opt for the Half Marathon. Each start will be from the Henri Milliard Hippodrome, a perfect kickoff to your race. 🐎
The entire road race will immerse you in an idyllic setting of palms and sea views, you’re set for a moment of pure joy! The course through Nouméa will definitely guide you to the Anse Vata Bay and there’s no stopping you from taking a dip in its turquoise water 🌊. You must go and see the mythical Sail Rock (which looks like a sail, you guessed it) in the Lemon Bay 🍋, which turns out to be one of the most vibrant spots in the capital. No way to offer a local Pulpo, since despite its name, you won’t find any lemon trees nearby! One, two, one, two, that’s the moment to turn back. We hope you aren’t afraid of the jaws, since you’re heading toward the white coast of Nouméa regularly monitored due to the sharks that roam there. If you’re a half-marathoner or marathoner, you’ll go even further to enjoy the Baie de Sainte-Marie and along the Verrier Promenade, a palm-lined path finally returning to the hippodrome. 🌴
The event unlocks the doors to a capital paced to the sound of the orchestras that will push you to surpass yourself. Then, after giving it your all, explore the nearby Lifou island, a picture-perfect spot on the island. We also recommend visiting Hienghène, UNESCO World Heritage-listed, where a quick dive in its crystal-clear waters will put you in your bubble (yup, we mean it). 💧
The day before your race, you’ll take part in the famous “Pasta Party,” but don’t hesitate to sample the numerous local dishes, such as the Bougna The special chicken and vegetable dish, and many other ingredients. 🍴
