Courez dans l’un des recoins les plus rudes et sauvages de l’ouest de l’Irlande lors du Connemarathon, une course culte proposant semi-marathon, marathon et ultramarathon (42,2 km/39,3 miles). Le parcours traverse la vallée d’Inagh, longe lacs et landes avant d’affronter la montée légendaire Hell of the West dans les derniers kilomètres. Après l’effort, direction Kylemore Abbey et la côte du Connemara pour une pause bien méritée et des saveurs locales.

Connemara International Marathon (Connemarathon) est une course culte organisée dans le comté de Galway, au cœur de la splendide région du Connemara 🏃🇮🇪. Les coureurs ont le choix entre trois distances : semi-marathon (21,1 km), marathon (42,2 km) et l’impitoyable ultramarathon (39,3 miles / ~63,2 km). Le parcours traverse la vallée spectaculaire d’Inagh (Inagh Valley), longe des lacs écumants, des tourbières ondulantes et les majestueuses chaînes des Maumturks et des Twelve Bens, pour offrir, dans les derniers kilomètres, la célèbre et raide montée appelée Hell of the West.

Après avoir dompté cet itinéraire sauvage, la côte ouest de l’Irlande vous invite à un repos bien mérité ! Rendez-vous à la magnifique Kylemore Abbey – un château néogothique aux jardins féeriques, pittoresquement installé sur les rives du lac Pollacapall 🏰. Visitez le Parc national du Connemara et empruntez le sentier aménagé jusqu’au sommet du Diamond Hill, d’où s’ouvre une vue inoubliable sur l’océan, les îles environnantes et les landes de bruyère ⛰️. Enfin, réservez une croisière sur le seul fjord d’Irlande, Killary Harbour ou partez pour la ville chaleureuse de Galway, vibrante de musique live 🚢🎶.

Après une journée entière d’efforts, reprenez des forces avec une soupe de poisson bien consistante (Seafood Chowder), du saumon fumé local du Connemara et des huîtres fraîches. Venir à bout de Hell of the West mérite d’être célébré avec une pinte de bière d’une brasserie artisanale, Galway Bay Brewery, ou un verre de whisky irlandais 🐟🦪🥃
