Maya Wildmarathon du Mexique

The Mexican composer Quirino Mendoza y Cortés does not get it wrong: when the legs burn and fatigue kicks in, keep smiling and keep moving forward with joy 🌞. This is what you’ll have to tell yourself if you decide to participate in the Maya Wildmarathon of Mexico. Running in paradise? Yes, sir ! 🇲🇽 In December, heading for Cozumel, the small paradisiacal island on the west coast of Mexico. And this isn’t just a race, but an experience in a postcard-perfect setting, with segments on the beach 🏝️ or deep in the jungle 🦧.

For this edition Maya, you can choose between three distances: 10 km, 21 km, or 42 km (tan) bronzed line optional)☀️. On the bright side, the course is as flat as a tortilla 🫓, with only 30 meters of positive elevation in total. We hope you’re comfortable on all surfaces 💪, because this course is made up of 95 % asphalt bike path, 3 % beach and 2 % dirt paths, to remind you that you’re in the Mexican jungle 🌱. You won’t have to tackle steep climbs, the steepest incline is 5 % 😎.

As for conditions, December in Cozumel, it’s a bit like the month of June in Europe, but without the rain ☔️ or clouds! ☁️ Expect temperatures between 19ºC and 26ºC. We hope you’ll finish in one piece, because along with the heat humidity 💦. And if you overheat 🥵, there will be a clothing drop-off point on the course to lighten your load.

The Maya Wildmarathon, it’s not just about running like a crazy under the sun 🌅. It’s primarily a 5-day adventure in a fully all-inclusive ✅. Ay, caramba ! 5-star hotel ⭐️, boat day 🛥️, snorkeling 🤿, visits to Mayan ruins 🛕, course recognitions 🏃‍♂️, Tasting local dishes 🥘…When you pay your registration, everything is taken care of. That means when you’re not racing, you’ll be chilling with a piña colada 🍹(or several, no judgment here). Always drink responsibly of course, especially as the big day approaches if you don’t want to roll off the course 😂.

You can enjoy the crystal-clear waters of Cozumel 🐠, considered the most beautiful in the world according to explorer Jacques Cousteau 🇫🇷, nothing less. In parallel, several activities await you: Mexican-style lounging on the Palancar Beach ⛱️, a visit to the San Gervasio Mayan ruins , a tour around the island by bike 🚲, and why not catch a little concert of mariachi ? 🪇 On the food side, you’re in for a treat. Even if you’re used to eating at home, you’ll never taste a taco 🌮 better than in Mexico, same for the guacamole 🥑. Watch out—hot ahead 🔥 we challenge you to try the "Chili habanero en salsa", the spiciest dish in the local cuisine.
