Le Mountain Lakes 100 est un ultra-marathon de 100 miles qui se déroule dans la chaîne des Cascades, dans l'Oregon, avec un parcours point à point principalement sur le Pacific Crest Trail. Les coureurs traversent des sentiers techniques à voie unique avec des sections rocheuses, des lacs alpins et une vue imprenable sur le mont Jefferson et le mont Hood. Le parcours présente un dénivelé positif et négatif de 3 566 mètres, le tout dans un temps limite de 30 heures. Avec un maximum de 150 participants, la course offre des sentiers peu fréquentés et un soutien logistique solide. Les points de ravitaillement sont fréquents et l'accès des équipes d'assistance sur le parcours est organisé et efficace. Les participants qui terminent la course reçoivent une boucle de ceinture personnalisée et un verre à bière, et ceux qui terminent en moins de 24 heures reçoivent une boucle spéciale. L'événement comprend un dîner de pâtes gratuit avant la course et un petit-déjeuner après la course, les repas étant proposés à la vente aux équipes d'assistance et aux familles. Une obligation de 8 heures de travail sur les sentiers renforce l'engagement de la course en faveur de la gestion des sentiers.
