Each year, in the heart of December, the region Aysén becomes the stage for this extraordinary adventure, in the southernmost tip of Chile 🇨🇱. Far from standardized formats, this rendezvous has quickly established itself as a mythic event on an international scale for lovers of triple effort in search of mysticism and absolute self-transcendence 🥵.

Born from the will to create an uncompromising competition in one of the most preserved environments on the planet, the event held its first edition in 2018 🗓. Modeled after Nordic extreme triathlons, it quickly earned its prestige thanks to its authenticity and raw rigor 💥. Over the years, the organization has managed to maintain this code of a confidential race status and exclusive, where every bib is earned first by a rigorous random draw, drawing athletes from around the globe to face the myth of the Patagonia 🍀. The journey starts with a three-meter jump from a boat into the dark, gripping waters of the Aysén Fjord, for a 3.8 km swim toward Puerto Chacabuco 🏊. Once out of the icebox the water, the transition hurls you onto your bike for 180.1 km of ferocious intensity on the legendary Carretera Austral 🚴. The profile of this cycling leg is particularly brutal: after 60 km of fairly flat "warm-up" along the Aysén River via Puerto Aysén, the road climbs sharply toward Valle Simpson 😍. The route accumulates 2 439 mD+ with a succession of punishing climbs, peaking in the final thirty kilometers before a plunge toward the transition at Villa Cerro Castillo 🔄. That’s where the final marathon on a dirt and gravel track begins, tracing the curves of the Ibáñez River💧. The running profile kicks off hard in the first kilometers with a brutal continuous ascent up to the fifth kilometer, gaining from 200 m to over 500 m of altitude ⛰️. The course then rolls into a roller-coaster section on a tricky forest trail, skimming wild waterfalls and high-altitude lakes. Past the thirtieth kilometer, a long technical descent brings you back to the valley, ending with a flat final ten-kilometer stretch along the Lac General Carrera 🐟. On such a course, records border on pure epic. Among men, Chilean Felipe Van de Wyngard holds the reference time in 9h41”33, while the Briton Caroline Livesey has stood out among women with a blazing time of 11h06”35, engraving their names at the summit of this event whose fame crosses far beyond the borders of the South America 🏆. Competing in the Patagonman, is also about learning to live with unpredictable weather 💨. Thermometers can approach 10°C in the water and sudden storms sometimes force organizers to alter routes at the last minute for runners' safety ❄️.
