Le marathon Inov-8 Pennine Trail est une course de trail de 43,6 km (27 miles) avec 1 163 m (3 814 pieds) de dénivelé positif, qui met en valeur la beauté sauvage des South Pennines. Partant près de Hurstwood à Worsthorne, le parcours entièrement balisé et encadré par des commissaires emmène les coureurs à travers les landes, le long des réservoirs et à travers des sites historiques. Parmi les points forts, citons Gorple Rocks, le réservoir de Widdop, Top Withins, la cascade de Brontë et Hardcastle Crags, avant une descente vertigineuse vers l'arrivée avec vue sur Pendle Hill. Avec des points de contrôle généreux, un chronométrage par puce, des photographies professionnelles et un village événementiel animé servant des pizzas et du café, la course allie une atmosphère populaire à une organisation professionnelle. Les participants qui terminent la course reçoivent une médaille personnalisée, des cadeaux et des photos de la course, tandis que les bénéfices sont reversés à des causes locales telles que Mountain Rescue, le National Trust, Worsthorne Estate et Trees for Burnley.
