Lancé en 2012, le Proença Cross Trail est l'une des plus anciennes courses de trail du Portugal et un événement incontournable dans l'histoire du trail running dans ce pays. Faisant à l'origine partie de la série Oh Meus Deus aux côtés de Vila de Rei et Serra da Estrela, cette course a permis à de nombreux coureurs de se tester pour la première fois sur des distances d'ultra-marathon. L'événement est resté fidèle à sa philosophie d'origine : courir en pleine nature, en mettant l'accent sur la sécurité, la vitesse et le défi. Les athlètes évoluent sur un parcours technique et captivant à travers les terrains boisés de Proença-a-Nova, avec des altitudes variées, des sentiers étroits et des chemins accidentés.
