Get ready for one of the most iconic ultramarathon challenges in the Polish mountains: about 140 km crossing four ranges of the Sudetes (Karkonosze, Rudawy Janowickie, Góry Kaczawskie and Góry Izerskie). For the hardier runners, a shorter version of about 70 km is also on the menu. The heart of the event unfolds in Jelenia Góra, after which the exploration continues around the region with the Cieplice Spa, the Chojnik Castle, and the Wang Church in Karpacz, before returning to catch the breath of Lower Silesia.
It's time to tackle a true classic and one of the most iconic ultramarathon challenges in the Polish mountains 💪! The Crossing around the Jelenia Góra Basin is an extreme test for real tough cookies, those who want to push the limits of their endurance. Participants face a legendary and grueling distance of about 140 km, crossing four Sudeten ranges: the Karkonosze, the Rudawy Janowickie, the Góry Kaczawskie and the Góry Izerskie ⏱️. In addition to the main course for the hardiest, there's also a shorter, yet still extremely demanding option: the Half Crossing on a distance of about 70 km.
The heart of the event is Jelenia Góra, which makes an excellent base for start points. After such a gigantic effort and well-deserved rest, it’s worth staying a bit longer in the region to explore the magic of Lower Silesia with family or your significant other 🥇 :
Relax at Cieplice-Zdrój – this thermal district of Jelenia Góra offers the Cieplice Thermal Baths, where the warm thermal waters work wonders for tired muscles 🌊.
Visit the monumental Chojnik Castle – perched atop a rocky hill, the castle makes an excellent destination for a relaxed stroll, offering an amazing panorama of the Karkonosze 🏰.
Discover the unique Wang Church in Karpacz – this quirky treasure, a 12th-century wooden church built in Scandinavian style, is only about a 20-minute drive from Jelenia Góra 🪵.
Taste the Izerskie kluski from the Karkonosze – large traditional potato dumplings stuffed with meat or mushrooms, served with a thick sauce, will quickly replenish the thousands of calories burned on the course 🍽️.
