Discover the wonders of the Phocaean city during Run In Marseille, a gathering offering 4 distances: 42.195 km solo or in a relay of 3, 6 km, 10 km and half marathon, to fully enjoy Marseille. The routes start at MUCEM and pass through iconic spots such as the Vieux-Port, the Major Cathedral, and the Prado beaches, in a spectacular urban setting.
An event to discover the wonders of the Phocaean city, here’s what Run In Marseille has to offer! In March, when the sunny days return, even though in the south they never quite leave, you’ll be able to gain color and admire the city’s riches with 2600 years of history. Fatche, you’re going to love it, my friend! 😁
To explore the iconic Marseille sights, you don’t need to be a seasoned marathoner. Besides the 42.195 km you can run alone or in a 3-person relay, there’s also a 6 km that will take you from the Prado beaches to the Vieux-Port, a 10 km from the Prado Avenue to the Vieux-Port as well, and finally the Marseille half marathon. Four distances in total, to fully enjoy the city. 🏙
Now, about the routes, the marathon and the half start from the MUCEM, which is perhaps one of the most beautiful starts in France. As for the Marseille marathon, honestly, it’s a wild ride. After admiring the majestic Cathédrale de la Major, you’ll greet the ships and the cranes at the industrial port. After a U-turn, you’ll head towards Place Castellane to set course for La Pointe Rouge then the splendid Calanques National Park, in a postcard-perfect landscape. After another 180-degree turn, you’ll head up the Michelet Boulevard to feel the thrills of the Stade Vélodrome, the one and only. Then, head to the Prado beaches via the Corniche Kennedy to then cut the finish line at the Vieux-Port, under the eyes of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde (remember to light a candle before the start, it will protect you). If it’s a good day, the mistral will lift you and you’ll beat all your records… while feeling a bit chilly in the legs! As they say, Mistral gagnant. 💨
For after the race, after visiting the famous Panier district, you can sit down to enjoy some panisses and an anchovy spread, with a little pastis (moderately) to gear up for a bouillabaisse. For dessert, we recommend the inimitable sugar-coated churros, to avoid hunger! See you next at La Vieille Charité for a game of pétanque before heading to the turn to support OM! 🔵⚪️
