Salomon Hammer Trail

Take on one of the toughest trail runs in Northern Europe! Salomon Hammer Trail takes place in the north of Bornholm island, a landscape that is picturesque, wild, and granite-strewn (in the Hammeren Peninsula region). Racers can choose from a wide range of distances—from an 8 km recreational option, through 17 km and 25 km, to brutal ultra challenges of 50 km and 50 miles 🏃. The course is a true rollercoaster: narrow, sandy-gritty trails along coastal cliffs, steep climbs up granite hills, and a loop around the emerald lake Opalsøen.

After you’ve completed the courses and enjoyed a well-deserved rest, Bornholm will charm you with its unique island atmosphere:

Explore the mighty ruins of the castle Hammershus – the largest medieval fortress in Scandinavia, proudly perched on a high cliff overlooking the Baltic waves 🏰. Head to one of the traditional smokehouses with iconic white chimneys (e.g., in Gudhjem or Allinge) or visit the round churches, unique in their kind, of which the best known is in Østerlars ⛪. Then, admire the striking rocky ravine and the formation Jons Kapel (Jon’s Chapel) on the island’s west coast, or book a boat tour to the picturesque small archipelago of Ertholmene Islands (Christiansø) 🏝️.
