Salomon Hammer Trail Winter

Ready for a frosty challenge at the edge of Scandinavia? Salomon Hammer Trail Winter is the winter version of Bornholm's iconic race, usually held during the coldest months of the year on the island's northern tip (Hammeren). Runners tackle distances of about 10 and 21 km, up to the demanding 63 km ultras or 50 miles 🏃. The winter atmosphere turns rocks and granite trails into treacherous skating rinks, while the Baltic winds howl and the night falls quickly, creating a harsh and striking backdrop for a true test of character.

After battling winter, Bornholm offers a warm, cosy break for the Danish heart (hygge) :

Take a stroll to the snowy or frost-covered ruins of the castle Hammershus – this powerful medieval fortress, set against winter Baltic waves crashing against the cliffs, looks simply majestic 🏰. Then embrace the Danish tradition of vinterbadning! Warm up in a harbor sauna (e.g., at Allinge) and, for the boldest, take a quick dip in the icy Baltic waters for a full regeneration ❄️🧖‍♀️. Discover the stark winter landscape around the old quarry and the Opalsøen lake, where tall granite walls shelter from the wind and provide an incredible setting for photos 🏔️.
