Semi-Marathon de Nîmes

In May, with spring-like temperatures, or perhaps, with a bit of luck, downright summery ones, the Nîmes Half Marathon is a perfect spot to discover the capital of the Gard, in Occitanie 💪.

To enjoy discovering the city of a thousand and one Gallo-Roman remains 🏛, you can choose 3 distances, depending on your fitness level or how you feel: 5 km, 10 km and the 21 km of the half-marathon.

The start and finish of the 3 events are judged on Jean-Jaurès Avenue, with the legendary arenas in the background. You'll feel like stepping into the shoes of a running gladiator ⚔️! You'll pass right by the Roman amphitheatre and along the Rue de la République. If you choose a slightly longer distance, you'll head east of the city via Boulevard Talabot, Rue Samaritaine and Rue André-Marquès, before coming back to cross Esplanade Charles de Gaulle. You'll then weave through the lively Nîmes streets 🎉 and pass by the city’s historic monuments. The half marathon will take you even further into discovering the area, especially the Nîmes countryside to the east of the city 🌳. The finish will come with the cheers and encouragement of locals who come out in numbers to support participants in the Nîmes half marathon.

For post-race, there are plenty of visit ideas! The Arenes are obviously a must-see, but you can also head to the Maison Carrée and the Jardins de la Fontaine ⛲️. For local gastronomy, the Brandade de Nîmes is a must-try and it's best enjoyed with a glass of Costières wine 🍷.
