It's in June in Phalempin, in the North, where this exceptional road race takes place! We choose our words carefully because even on pavement, this half marathon will be set against the backdrop of the Phalempin Forest, a place hugely beloved in Hauts-de-France. As we know you’re not a slacker (no offense 😅) and this event is on your spring race calendar, it’s time to dash to the starting line!
Only one distance on the program: the Phalempin Half, but the title had already said it all! 😉 You’ll start from Péchon Avenue at the forest’s edge to dive into this true green lung for more than 11 km. Along your route you’ll encounter its ponds and its diverse wildlife. You’ll also run on roads lining the surrounding fields— ideal for starting runs in near-summer heat (or close to it) ☀️. Then you’ll cross through the green-filled towns, so brace yourself for verdant communes as you head toward Attiches, turn toward Tourmignies, hammering the ground with your strides in Martinval or even clapping to the beat of drums in Drumez (yes, drums = percussion) 🥁. You’re going to love running on roads that are mostly flat, making it an excellent spot to chase your personal best. This forest race is extremely well-marked for the easily distracted thanks to the volunteers guiding the course. It would be a shame to get lost in nature just when you’re at your peak!
We know what’ll help you push beyond yourself! The animations that will be present throughout your race will pace your strides all the way to the Phalempin Sports Complex, where you’ll savor the end of these 21 km. And it’s especially the arrival to the sound of brass bands that will make you realize you’ve achieved your challenge—no fuss! 🎺
As for post-race, head to Lille, less than 15 km away. A chance to treat yourself at a small restaurant in the Grand'Place, for endives au gratin (local endives) or a beer soup from the North, yes, it exists! For dessert, we recommend a delicious strawberry tart— another local specialty, so dive in! 😋
