About this event

Join a unique half-marathon in Rambouillet: 7 km in town followed by 14 km in the royal forest, a total of 21 km contested during the 38th edition of the Yvelines departmental championship. Organized by Rambouillet Olympique, the race can qualify for the French Championships and offers a smooth, well-marked and friendly course. Open to disability athletes, it blends sport, nature and a warm atmosphere around the castle and park.

You know your way around a negotiation? 😎 Not kidding, Rambouillet is offering you an unbeatable deal: 7 km from town to warm up your calves, then 14 km of national forest to re-energize you! 🌲 Do the math, that’s a solid 21 km and thus a half-marathon! 🏃 You’re a winner either way 😉.

Organized by the Rambouillet Olympique, this 38th edition of the Rambouillet Half Marathon isn’t just another year. It’s THE departmental championship of Yvelines, and as a bonus, a possible qualification for the French Championships 🇫🇷. In other words, if you’ve got legs and ambition, you’ve come to the right place 🏆. March in Île-de-France is a time when it’s not too cold and not too hot. Just what you need to post a time you’ll be proud of 🤩, without finishing like a boiled shrimp 🦐. And running through a forest at the start of the spring 🌸, when everything is budding and the air smells of nature waking up... Therapeutic, almost zen! 🧘 Finally, zen until the km 15, after which it’s every racer for themselves 😂. The cool thing too is that March is exactly the moment you emerge from your winter training 🥶: you’ve worked hard through the cold months ❄️, and now you can finally show what you’ve got!

The course concept? Simple but effective. You start from the city center of Rambouillet 🏘️, weave through streets with the castle in view 🏰, and then bam! Off to the forest over smooth roads and cycle paths 🚲. No treacherous roots, no mud up to the knees, just a solid surface where your legs can spin freely 😌. You’ll also get a little downtime (or not) along the Étang d'Or. This semi, is the kind of course where you can really focus on your performance without wondering if you’ll wipe out at the next corner 🤫. The route is smooth, well-marked to the nines 🧅, and the city-forest transitions happen naturally. You’ll hear cheers from the crowd 👏 and birdsong without even noticing 🐦. In terms of vibe, with 3,000 runners maximum, it’s pretty dense to be motivating but not chaotic either 🚙. You’ll just feel the championship buzz without elbowing anyone for 21 km.

The race is also open to people with disabilities 💪. Yes indeed, inclusion matters here 🫶. Guides for visually impaired participants can also take part at no extra cost.

Once you’ve crossed the finish line 🏁 (and recovered the use of your legs 🦵), Rambouillet has plenty to keep you busy. The Rambouillet and its park are regal (in the literal sense) 👑. Quick historical tidbit: Louis XVI loved this place so much that he came here hunting regularly. Okay, you’re chasing a time, not a stag, but the idea is the same: you come to Rambouillet to treat yourself! 🦌 You can also visit the National Poultry Farm if you’re team animal 🐑 or the Étang d'Or for a pleasant stroll that will do wonders for your calves (or your stomach if you’re hungry 😜). And speaking of food, you’ll surely find something to your taste 👟. Local restaurateurs 🧑‍🍳 know runners’ appetites well! 🤤 There are also a few regional specialties: the Rambolitain 🍰, a pastry to die for, or the Yolin, a kind of pâte-less quiche 🥧 but with flavors that will endear your stay even more. You’ll also find a wonderful array of cheeses, like the Camembert de Mesnil 🧀. Plus, Rambouillet is barely 50 minutes from Paris by train, making it truly accessible for a sporty weekend with no fuss 🚄.

So, are you going for a royal half? 🤴
