NLB Marathon de Ljubljana

Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia 🇸🇮, is a charming city to discover 😍. So, why not fuse your two passions: travel ✈️ and running? 🏃‍♂️ You are invited to the Ljubljana Marathon NLB, an event held in the heart of autumn 🍂, in October, in the neighboring country to Italy 🇮🇹, Croatia 🇭🇷 and Hungary 🇭🇺.

This race runs at a crazy pace 🤪, you’ll discover an urban and history-packed landscape with a wealth of exceptional monuments 🏛️. Your start will be near the National Theatre and you’ll cross the finish line 🏁 on the Congress Square, where the impressive edifice of the old Provincial Parliament stands. It’s today home to the University of Ljubljana 👩‍🏫, near which sits the Slovenian Philharmonic 🎶. Just wow! 😏 Ljubljana has plenty to offer in terms of scenery: a city blessed by the nature 🍃. It’s actually close to the Alpine Massif ⛰️. Its strategic location has given it a history of dominations: the Romans, Napoleon, the Austrian Empire occupying the city. That’s why it feels like one giant melting-pot of culture! 🌍 Ljubljana is pleasant to wander, if you still have a bit of steam ⚡️. You can enjoy a romantic stroll along the Bridge of Lovers 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨 or a rewarding visit to the National Museum of Slovenia 🤓. If you want some rest and a little farniente 😴, the Tivoli Park 🌳 will delight you. If you’re curious, the Ljubljana Castle is a must-see! 🏰

Let’s talk, talk, talk... But for now, you don’t know what to expect during the race! Well, you know what? There’s something to satisfy all runners with a road race of 10 km, a half marathon and even a marathon! 👏 So you can find the right shoe (for running) 👟) to your foot! The course couldn’t be more perfect: it forms a loop 🔁 and passes through the streets of the city centre. Flat, easy and fast... 🏃‍♀️. The perfect chances to push yourself and do your best to beat your personal record ! ⏱️ Undefeated since respectively 2023 and 2018, the Ethiopian Zinas Gerado Senbeta (2 hours, 21 minutes and 5 seconds) and the Ethiopian Sisay Lemma (2 hours, 4 minutes and 58 seconds) sit at the top of the podium. If you train well enough, maybe you can hope to beat one of the two records of the competition! 🏆

Organisers also offer a children’s distance 🧒 of 200 m. A way to get the whole family involved in this great event 🤩. For the little wolves 🐺 who want to do like the grown-ups, it’s perfect. Plus, this race is free 🆓.

Want to venture a little outside the city and discover other Slovenian treasures? Just a 30-minute drive from the capital, you’ll find the Lake Bled, a tiny paradise that opens into the Bohinj Valley, where you’ll find the Bohinj Lake, which is also a little wonder 👌. In the heart of the Triglav National Park surrounded by majestic mountains 🏔️, it’s a perfect place to recharge 🧘‍♂️.
