Verrières-en-Anjou hosts in March the Sylvanais Half Marathon, a road race created in 2005 and run in three laps of 7 km each. The flat course with no major difficulty allows you to approach your personal best, with the option to run it in a relay and a start/finish near the Brossay path. Verrières-en-Anjou, formerly Saint-Sylvain d’Anjou, in Maine-et-Loire will host in March the Semi-Marathon Sylvanais. A distance on the agenda but not a small one for this rendezvous: the semi-marathon the famous one, the Sylvanais. A small quirk: you can still run it as a relay.
There are three laps of 7 km each to discover. The course is flat and with no major difficulties, perfect for chasing your personal best to smash all the times 🧨. The start and finish are set near the Chemin du Brossay, close to the bib pickup. Next, you’ll cross the Centre Bourg and explore the municipal area.
You’ll run through the town streets, on a tarmac road, but you’ll also pass by a few local heritage monuments like the Castle at Motte 🏰 or the Château du Plessis-Bourré. To learn more about this town, note that it was the death of Charles de Lambert— aviation pioneer and first man to fly over the Eiffel Tower. Back at the Chemin du Brossay, you’ll enjoy a fast-paced race on ground conducive to a record. So did the time explode? 😁
After the race, dive into the visits. In the area, you can opt for the Cointreau distillery in Saint-Barthélémy-d’Anjou or the national domain of the Château d’Angers which sits not far from the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Natural Park. 🏞️
