Situé dans le cadre grandiose du parc national de Joshinetsu Kogen — un éco-parc de l’UNESCO situé à Yamanouchi, dans la préfecture de Nagano —, le Shiga Kogen 100 propose un ultra-trail de 100 km conçu pour les athlètes désireux de repousser leurs limites. Avec des parcours situés entre 1 650 et 2 200 mètres d’altitude, les coureurs peuvent s’attendre à un air vif et frais ainsi qu’à des vues panoramiques sur les Alpes qui leur donneront de l’énergie à chaque foulée. L’épreuve se caractérise par des sentiers vallonnés et très praticables, avec un dénivelé important, tout en restant moins technique que de nombreux autres ultra-marathons, ce qui en fait un terrain d’essai idéal tant pour les coureurs d’ultra chevronnés que pour les novices dans cette discipline. Plusieurs distances au choix s’adaptent à un large éventail de niveaux athlétiques, garantissant un défi en montagne gratifiant pour tous les participants sur la ligne de départ.
