In Vizille, in the Alps of the Auvergne region, l’Echappée Belle stands out as the complete Belledonne trail, with start at Domaine de Vizille and finish at Aiguebelle. Four distances are offered: the demanding traverse, the Sky Race, and the other courses, culminating at 149 km and 11,400 mD+. Eco-friendly, the event crosses two Natura 2000 zones and the Luitel Nature Reserve for an authentic mountain immersion.
You, the runner with steel lungs and concrete legs, think you can conquer all mountains? 🦿Are you sure? Then grab a bib for The Beautiful Escape! The organizers of this Belledonne trail in Isère, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, offer you something even better than rollercoaster mountains! 🎢
Four distances are on offer with different start and finish points. We start easy with the loop of La Sky Race du Rocher Blanc, 21 km and 2 000 mD+, start and finish at Fond de France. Then the 62 km of the Parcours des Crêtes, start at Allevard and finish at Aiguebelle after 4 700mD+. It starts to sting with the Traversée Nord, 6140 mD+ over 84 km with start at Fond de France and finish at Aiguebelle. And finally the incredible, the monstrous Echappée Belle, the 149 km full distance with no less than 11 400 mD+ !!! 😨 No typos, I swear! All this elevation almost made us forget to give you the essential info: start from the domain of Vizille and finish at Aiguebelle. Oh yes, it will be in August over a whole weekend, expect hot weather even though it’s in a mountainous area. 🥵
The Echappée Belle trail is a true adventure just a short distance from Grenoble, in a highly rich and mountainous environmental heritage. You’ll traverse entirely the Belledonne range, otherwise known as the crystalline chain of the Alps, all the way to Savoie with breathtaking views of snowy peaks. 🏔 From summit to refuge, you’ll discover about thirty alpine lakes, panoramic ridges, forests, glaciers and perriers (go easy on the bubbles, we recommend after the effort...). Plus, 90% of the course is on single-trail paths with the climbing of 15 passes above 2,000 m elevation for the full distance. 🤯 Also note that the organization aims to be eco-friendly because you pass through two Natura 2000 zones and the Luitel National Nature Reserve. It’s thanks to this environmental attention that you may encounter ibex and chamois. 🐐
To recharge for a better run, enjoy the gratin dauphinois, the Saint-Marcelin and the Grenoble walnuts. And to wash it all down, the Chartreuse is here! Green weekend, even in the glass! 🍸
