Thonon-les-Bains Running Race

Careful not to do a barrel roll in Thonon or you might end up in the water! 💦

After conquering the roads of Haute-Savoie and the shore of the Lac Léman with the Thonon-les-Bains Cycling Race, the organizers will let the riders loose in the town! The Thonon-les-Bains Running Race takes place the same weekend as this event, so if you prefer cycling, it’s time to lace up, 👟 and conversely, runners, it’s time to test yourself on two wheels! 🚴 But there’s no question of riding here; to finish the race, you’ll need to use your legs 🦵. So book your last weekend of May and get ready for two days of sport and vacation vibes 🌞.

But before strolling by the lake with feet kicked back, you’ll start with a 5 km or a 10 km on the quays. The adventure begins in the heart of Thonon-les-Bains, between the mountains, with the Dent d'Oche in the background and the late-afternoon light! 🌄 Starting from the quays 🛣️, you’ll discover Thonon and its history with the Château de Ripaille 🏰. You’ll soon enter a green haven: the Arboretum 🌳, before heading back toward the finish line 🏁. The small Savoyard province of the Chablais will see athletes of all levels go by: beginners, speed-dossard regulars, or those chasing seconds on the clock ⏱️. No elevation gain planned; you won’t reach the terminus of the Funiculaire! It’s a hyper-accessible course that awaits you: a flood of personal bests should come down on the town 💪 (and yet the sunny weather will be on duty 🌤️).

The Thonon-les-Bains Running Race, it’s also an experience to live after the race! 😉 Between the expo village and the lively atmosphere all day, you won’t be bored 🥳. If you fancy it, you can take a dip in the Lac Léman 🏊‍♀️, though the water temperature may still deter you 🥶. To stretch your legs after your event, visit the musée du Chablais or take to the heights with the funicular for a stunning view over the lake and the mountains ! 🤩 Along your route you’ll find many historic sites 🤓, so keep your eyes peeled if you want to learn more about the history of Thonon. Once you’ve explored the upper town ⬆️, head back down to the lakeside to discover the port de Rives and its old fishing village 🎣. You’ll even be able to eat freshly caught fish right from the lake! 😋
