We need to fix that as soon as possible. It’s in Brittany, in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, that lies the small village of Bain-sur-Oust. Beyond its name, which evokes relaxation 🛀, the town hosts a classic trail that has been the pride of the Bainsois since 1996. The race typically takes place in March, which means the weather can be fickle, and that’s part of the region’s charm ☔ . So dress up and choose your distance from the many races offered. If you’re a trail runner at heart, several levels of difficulty await: the 9 km, the 14 km, the 22 km or the 43 km, your call. If you prefer to take your time and enjoy the scenery, the 14 km or the 22 km walk are also on the menu. Moreover, both are open to Nordic walking, nice, right ?
The course of the trail des 3 chapelles will take you through rivers and forests. The race runs on hiking trails around the town while skirting the river of the Oust (don't go away 😄 ). The route lets you enjoy a sightseeing tour of the region with the famous 3 chapelles of St Méen, St Laurent and St Marcellin which you’ll see if you take on the 43 km⛪. You won’t miss the views of the monastery of La Roche du Theil and the famous Île aux Pies (watch your belongings) 🐦 . Classified as a grand site naturel, the island is surrounded by the Canal de Nantes à Brest that you’ll skirt during your race. This passage offers you a true tableau of beauty, with the canal in the foreground and the island in the background. Welcome to the Bain-sur-Oust museum 🖼️ !
After your race, don’t head off right away! First, before heading to see the magnificent Abbaye Saint-Sauveur de Redon, treat yourself to a good galette-saucisse at the finish. You’ll be delighted and you’ll also delight the Restos du cœur because the money raised goes to the association. In the evening, don’t miss the highlight of the organizers’ entertainment for the trail. A convivial meal accompanied by singing and typical Breton music 🍽️ .
