Oisans Trail Tour

It’s in Isère, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, where this happens, and it’s called the Oisans Trail Tour ! It takes place in July, in the heart of the Oisans, under a summer climate ☀️, but cooler up high, you’ll get to run in breathtaking mountain corners 🏔️: more than enough to breathe in a good blast of fresh air! 🌬️

You’ll see, the trail of the Oisans is invigorating! The event is organized by 5 ski resorts that have come together for the occasion: Oz-en-Oisans, Villars-Reculas, Vaujany, Auris-en-Oisans and L’Alpe d’Huez. You’ll tread on vertiginous mountains 🫣, discover breathtaking panoramas and cross through mythical corners 🤩. Forget the snow and the powder ❄️, grab your ski pair 🎿, but it’s your legs that will be put to the test 🦵. The courses change regularly, but we’ll still give you a small preview of what to expect for this edition 😌.

So, what do we run during the Oisans Trail Tour ? 🤔 Options include: the "Ultra Tour" of 88 km and 4 800 mD+ (for ultrarunners), the "Trail Tour" of 39 km and 2 100 mD+ (for long-trail lovers), the "Trail Court" of 28 km and 1 550 mD+ for 1 600 mD- (for the kings of speed on short trail), and finally the "Trail Discovery" of 10 km and 150 mD+, for beginners (as well as its 850 mD- lucky small ☝️). There will also be kids’ races in Vaujany, on the Place de la Fare, during this weekend of trail! 🧒

For one of the shorter distances, the "Trail Court", the course will be city-to-city, in a Vaujany-Vaujany 😂! You’ll mainly run on paths to crawl along in a loop and return to your starting point, passing by the Col de Poutran, the Lac Besson and the Alpette 🦌. On the "Trail Tour", there are 1 900 mD+ you’ll have to climb! 🥵 But this magnificent trail will take you to discover lakes, not of the Connemara 😝, but of the Massif des Grandes Rousses ⛰️. Lac Noir, Lac Faucille, Lac Lamat, Lac Carrelet, will make your mouth water 🤤. Note, although this isn’t the longest distance, the course technical with significant elevation gain, requires training and preparation! The big chunk, here it is: the 88 km! A wild crossing 🐗, pushing yourself, with spectacular spots: are you ready to take on it? 😏 Go for this unique ultra-trail ⭐. Your calves will whistle: 4 800 mD+ cumulés! 🤯 Start headlamp-lit for this challenge, the goal is to reach Villard-Reculas and the Plan des Cavalles, before heading home, to Vaujany. On the program: views of the Croix de Cassini, the Emparis plateau (nothing to do with the capital’s landscape) and la Meije 😲. An XXL adventure for seasoned runners! 💪

After filling your lungs with pure air, you’ll be able to do the same with your stomach, but not with air this time! 😂 Menu: Oisans crozets and Champsaur ravioles to warm your insides! 😋 And if you want to keep enjoying nature 🌿 and the forest 🌲, there are no shortage of hiking trails nearby 🥾. But no panic, some paths are accessible to everyone, especially to trail runners whose legs are mush 😅.
