Craving a unique and sensational trail on an island? The Trail of Île d’Yeu offers coastal routes of 15, 23, or 45 km, starting from Quai Carnot and passing near caves and lighthouses, then exploring the old castle and religious buildings. After the crossing, enjoy the marvelous scenery and a second, more technical section on trails that run along the island’s rich heritage before reaching the sports complex near the Citadel.
Want the unique and sensation? Don’t say more! Go seek happiness in Vendée, on the island of Yeu. Under the gentle temperatures of June, discover a coastal trail of its own kind. By the way, remember to book your boat ⛵ or you’ll stay on the dock and miss the Trail of the island of Yeu… unless you’re an excellent swimmer?
Once you’ve crossed, you can start on the distance that suits you best: 15 km, 23 km or 45 km. The start is given at Carnot dock which faces the port. Open your Yeu(x) eyes wide as you pass by the many caves of the island including the longest of Vendée: the “Va-Nu-Pieds”. But don’t worry, you won’t need to take your shoes off! 😉 You’ll then run around the lighthouse sites of the island 🔦(there are 5 in total) and you’ll be able to admire the old castle on Yeu.
This first section of the course is more approachable and will let you wide‑eyed admire the wonderful scenery and the joy of running on an island 🏝️. Don’t miss a single moment because the second part is much more technical and will require a bit more focus. It’s not because you’re on an island that you’ll take it easy. You’ll stroke the fine sand in bucolic coves 🏖️ like the Anse des fontaines, then you’ll follow some trails to discover the island’s rich heritage, including its numerous religious edifices. And if you’re attentive, you might catch a glimpse of the dolmens of Yeu.
All distances converge at the island’s sports complex, not far from the Citadel of the island. Your turn to channel Robinson Crusoé 👣 and tread a sun-kissed land during a island race guaranteed to surprise.
