In Les Saisies, the Noël Trail offers two routes of 10 and 20 km, with an elevation gain of 350 and 790 mD+. Race down snowy trails and enjoy a frosty setting with views of Mont-Blanc and the rise of La Bisanne. The festive atmosphere, elves, and Santa Claus add to this winter race before the holidays.
Watch your step, trail runners are hitting the slopes! 😎 Start December 🏘️, you’ll get to enjoy the fresh powder just fallen on the mountain faces 🗻. It’s at the Saisies you’ll meet for the Trail of Christmas! 🧑🎄 Nestled in the Beaufortain, in Savoie, the resort will be decked out in its finest decorations ✨ to welcome runners as frosty as you 🤪, for a frosty trail. With crampons on 👟, the groomed slopes will challenge you to cross the finish line of your event! 💪
To do this, organizers have created two courses to suit most abilities: a 10 km and a 20 km. As you might guess, elevation will be at the ready 📈, since you’ll be running on slopes originally meant for downhill! 😅 They are respectively 350 mD+ and 790 mD+ waiting for you at the turn 👀. You won’t be allowed to use snowshoes to climb the ascents 🏸, so beware of ice 🧊, as it could topple you! 🙃 You’ll need to cling on to make it to the Bisanne climb, we guarantee you won’t be disappointed when you reach the summit 😉. You’ll have a panoramic view of the surrounding nature 🌨️, and especially the Mont Blanc ! 🏔️ You’ll gain height during this snowy trail (as much as the Mont...), so keep your eyes open, you might just meet Santa Claus or Mrs. Claus 🤶.
If you hadn’t guessed yet, the Trail of Christmas at the Saisies is also an overall festive vibe! 🥳 Before the holidays, you’ll get to meet some great folks: elves, Santa Claus and maybe even Olaf if a participant ends up doing some rolling snow tricks ☃️. If you don’t have such a flair for costumes 😆, it’s wise to plan ahead, because even if you don’t win the top prize 🥇, you might still snag best costume! 💁♀️
To enjoy the resort ⛷️ a little more, which has seen two French biathlon icons grow up here Julia Simon and Justine Braisaz ⭐, we can only suggest trading your sneakers for skis! 🤓 You can try a no-skating stance at the bottom of the slopes ⛸️. If your legs can’t handle more exertion 😬, consider visiting the surrounding villages: Bisanne 1 500, Hauteluce, Les Saisies 1 650 or even Beaufort a bit further away 🚗. That’ll be a perfect spot to recover 💆♀️, because that’s where the delicious Beaufort cheese 🧀 of the same name originated 🤤.
