Trail des Cabornis

A 100% nature trail in the heart of the Monts d’Or, you can’t turn it down! Since 2003, the organizers of the Trail des Cabornis welcome you to Chasselay, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region just 30 minutes from Lyon. In March it’ll be cold, not more than 13°C at the warmest part of the day with a chance of rain 🥶. The tougher it is, the more fun we have, right?

Three distances are on the menu: 13 km, 25 km and 41 km. It’s perfect for progressing step by step.Exactly, the organizers had the brilliant idea of offering you a course reconnaissance before the top start. It avoids unpleasant surprises👌. If you want to measure yourself against the best, know that the top specialists come to test themselves on this renowned course.

Most of the courses are on trail paths and on roads. However, some segments are unique and technical. You’ll encounter quarries, tunnels and wild spots. You’ll also face significant elevation gain, between 500 and 1900 mD+ with climbs of the Monts Py and the Crêt d'Albigny and the Croix de Rampau 🤩. If you feel you’re flagging, remind yourself that the effort is worth it because at the summit you’ll get 360° viewpoints over Lyon and its surroundings waiting for you.

Watch your head, you might glimpse or hear all kinds of flying machines ✈️. Indeed, the base aérienne 942 is just a stone’s throw away. Don’t stare too long at the sky either, remember you still have to run! Once you finish your course, since you’re near Lyon, you know what you’ll do to recharge 😉 !
