Trail des Cascades

Aim the frame a little 🖼️! It’s spring in Normandy. The nature 🌱 is radiant around Mortain-Bocage in the Manche. On the western edge of the Regional Natural Park and Normandie-Maine Geopark you’ll find the Mortainais, one of the oldest mountain massifs ⛰️ in France. Two rivers flow through this area where the famous Normandy cows graze peacefully as you’re comfortably encouraged to run: the Cance and the Cançon. These two rivers give life to the heart of the forests with two spectacular waterfalls ! The Grand Waterfall (25 meters of drop, all the same 😅) and the Little Waterfall offer the Trail of the Cascades its name. And to runners the joy 😍 of running amid these natural landscapes. As you can imagine, the place is very popular with hikers the rest of the year 😉.

The Trail of Cascades offers its audience three trail options of 9 km, 15 km and 32 km. Two discovery trails, one of them night-time 🌙, and a short trail. A perfect event for beginners! The 15 km distance can be run solo or in relay 🤝 for maximum collective fun. The Trail of 32 km cumulatively features a positive elevation gain of 930 meters

The organizers have thought of families 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦: 4 races are planned for the youngest. Trails tailored for aspiring runners: 3 km, 1200 meters, 800 meters and 400 meters. Everyone will find something at the Trail of Cascades. Everyone, we said: even walkers have a Sunday event: a great 12 km course to stroll even more while admiring the local beauties.

With your family or friends, you’ll be able to enjoy it outside of the race. The Manche department is incredibly lucky! The world-famous Mont-Saint-Michel, located in Brittany Normandy, is less than an hour’s drive from Mortain-Bocage... And this isn’t the only heritage jewel you’ll discover since the gastronomic wealth gastronomic is just as important! Seafood enthusiasts can therefore meet up in Cherbourg and Granville, the two big towns in the department, located by the sea. And if you’re also pro-Brexit before hitting the road, the United Kingdom 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 is reachable by ferry 🛳️ departing from Cherbourg. Granville offers among other things its cliffs—truly spectacular!

If the GR 34, the famous customs officers’ trail that runs along the entire Breton coast begins at the Mont Saint Michel in the Manche, another excellent hiking option to consider: the GR 223 which runs along the entire Manche coastline starting from Carentan les Marais, a northern Manche town.
