In Quincié-en-Beaujolais, in the Rhône, discover the Trail des Grisemottes in October, a mountain race surrounded by Beaujolais vineyard and forest scenery. Three distances are offered: 12, 20 and 32 km, the latter can be run solo or in relay (20 km + 12 km). The start promises an initial elevation gain of 300 mD+ in the first kilometres, quickly testing your endurance and training.
Welcome to Quincié-en-Beaujolais, in the Rhône, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The town welcomes you to its Trail des Grisemottes, which takes place in October 🍂. In the mountains 🏔️, October is synonymous with cooler temperatures and sometimes rain... 🌧️ That's part of the charm of this race! By the way, the event offers three trail distances : a 12 km, a 20 km and a 32 km. This last distance can be completed, as you prefer, solo or as a relay 🤝. If you choose the second option, know that the two relay runners will respectively cover 20 km and 12 km in total.
The town of Quincié-en-Beaujolais, set among fields 🌾, has some reliefs around! Whether you choose the 12 km, the 20 km or the 32 km, your trail starts strong: 300 mD+ in the first 2 km! 🤯 You’ll quickly know if your training has been enough 😅. These climbs will be a good test! Nature lovers will be able to fully enjoy the plains, wine terraces and the forests of the Rhône Valley 🌊.
After the Trail des Grisemottes, you get to rest! 😴 Located north of Villefranche-sur-Saône, the other big town in the department with Lyon, Quincié-en-Beaujolais is in a culturally rich area. You won’t run out of ideas for discovery 😉. The Beaujolais country is very close. Beaujeu, the old capital of the Beaujolais, is only 6 km from the race 🍷. You’ll be right in the heart of culture and history! For those who still crave nice reliefs, the famous Monts d’Or are less than an hour away by car 🚗.
Otherwise, you can also keep heading towards Lyon! With its parks, its distinct neighbourhoods, its monuments, the heritage, and notably the Gallo-Roman heritage, are impressive. We recommend you lose yourself in the streets of the Vieux-Lyon after your race 🏃♂️. Your thighs might not appreciate the slopes of the Croix-Rousse ❌. Yet, the neighborhood is worth it, especially thanks to its many murals
