From Saverne, in Bas-Rhin, for a nature trail in March, with temperatures between 2°C and 11°C and possibly rain. Three distances are available: 13 km ‘discovery’, 29 km more demanding, and 50 km for bold finishers, crossing forests and steep climbs. On the agenda, local heritage (Château du Haut-Barr, Tour de Brotsch) and panoramas of Alsace.
Direction Saverne, in Bas-Rhin, for a nature trail! It’s in March, with temperatures ranging from 2 to 11 degrees, that you’ll kick off for the Haut-Barr trail. Rain could also make an appearance on the roads of the Grand Est. Be there, for an event that’s going to break the Barra !
Three distances are offered by the organizers to discover the local lands. On the program: a 13 km "discovery" trail, open to all and perfect for beginners taking on trail running. Here’s a great way to get a foot in the door. If you’re more seasoned in trail challenges, go for the 29 km: it’s going to climb! 🧗♀️ Finally, a 50km is also available!
You’ll explore the surroundings of the town of Saverne. You’ll wind through the forest🌳, a green corner with beautiful single tracks. You’ll then face a few steeper climbs, to get you in the trail mood. You’ll also have the chance to admire the local heritage including the ruins of the Haut-Barr Castle: dating from the 12th century, and nicknamed "the Eye of Alsace". Some say you can glimpse the spire of the Strasbourg Cathedral in the distance, so come enjoy the view. That’s not all, you’ll also pass by the Tour of Brotsch. You’ll feel small at the foot of its 23 meters tall. Unlike the Mini-trail of Haut-Barr, the 29 km of the Haut-Barr Trail hides some tougher sections with more substantial elevation changes. You’ll also wander through the forest before climbing the heights of the Geissfels. Perfect for enjoying incredible panoramas! Longer, tougher but with even more pleasure.
To end the day on a high note, there’s nothing better than savoring the good Alsatian gastronomy. Sauerkraut, pretzel and tarte flambée 😋 , the region’s winning trifecta. Alsace isn’t only about food. There are many things to discover. So, take advantage of being in the area to explore the most beautiful spots nearby. From Parc Naturel Régional des Vosges du Nord to Strasbourg, you’ve got choices. 😉
