Fancy an immersive mountain trail from Beaucens (Hautes-Pyrénées, Occitanie)? Le Trail du Hautacam offers four distances (15, 22, 42 and 62 km) and a night start in front of the town hall, equipped with a headlamp recommended. Spectacular routes through villages and landscapes up to Hautacam, with panoramas up to Gavarnie and return to Beaucens. A nature and wild experience to savor.
Want to walk among the clouds, breathe in the fresh mountain air and push your limits ⛰️ ? Then Beaucens in the Hautes-Pyrénées in Occitanie is where it’s at! The organizers of the Trail du Hautacam welcome you every year since 2011 to discover the stunning landscapes of their region. If you’re feeling adventurous in May, we still recommend bringing a lightweight rain jacket to dodge a downpour.
Four distances to choose from: a 15 km canitrail 🐕 and three trails of 22, 42 and 62 km. Start at night in front of the town hall of Beaucens (plan to bring a headlamp 🔦 or it’ll be tricky) and it’s go time for the adventure 🎬 ! Traverse the villages of Villelongue, Ortiac, Gazost, Ourdon and Ousté. Discover unique places like the fontaine du Bédouret, the La Prade barns, the ruined chapel of Saint Orens, the pass or route and the Donjon aux Aigles. Climb for summits like Hourquette Neuve and the mounts of Lits and Trézère. From up there, enjoy the breathtaking panoramas that stretch all the way to Gavarnie 🔭. You’ll especially be able to admire the massifs des Estibères et du Lascours and the valleys of the Gaves and Castelloubon. Follow the Lac d’Isaby and the serpent’s crest to reach the top of the Hautacam ski resort and its cross-country trails near the Tramassel pass. Return to Beaucens via Artalens.
We imagine all that must have you hungry, right? To recharge, nothing beats a hearty garbure a comforting vegetable and white bean stew 🍲, paired with a Jurançon wine 🍷. And for dessert, don’t miss the gâteau à la broche an ancient recipe.
If you have a bit of time, swing back to the Donjon des Aigles where you can catch a wonderful aerial ballet 🦅. Otherwise, you can detour through the very lively and touristy town of Lourdes.
