Trail du Miosson

You’ve let yourself go a bit during the end-of-year celebrations 🎅 ? That’s totally fair, but we shouldn’t go overboard. Precisely to start January on the right foot, we’ve got a trail for you. In the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, at Saint-Benoîtin the Vienne, the Trail du Miosson is the first step of your good resolutions! Forget foie gras and yule log; it’s time to loosen up the legs and get back into the swing of things. 🏃‍♂️

Around Poitiers, Saint-Benoît is the first gathering of the year for all local runners. Regardless of the temperatures, you’ll need to push yourself a bit, but it’s worth getting back into the rhythm, right? On this occasion, the organizers offer you three distances. First, the 8.8 km with a positive elevation gain of 160m D+, a good way to ease back in. Alternatively, the 15.6 km with 280m D+ for a more demanding run. Finally, if you’re already feeling hot, the 23 km with a positive elevation gain of 420m D+ is the event you need! 😉

The Trail du Miosson kicks off the calendar of nature races in the Vienne and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. So it’s a highly anticipated rendezvous and the course matches the occasion. The routes use communal roads but also private paths, to explore the Miosson valley as well as the Bois de Saint-Pierre. Given the time of year, get ready and bundle up! Weather contingencies may add to the challenge. So watch out for mud and slippery terrain! A true trail course like you love. 🏃‍♂️

For after the race, you can stroll through the Poitou nearby, or get an adrenaline rush at the Futuroscope of Poitiers which is just 5 km from Saint-Benoît. You might even run there if you’ve still got some tread! And for the gastronomic stop, you can treat yourself to a melon from the Haut-Poitou, the incomparable Chabichou and finally a broyé du Poitou, a golden round galette. 😋
