L’Hérault, in Occitanie welcomes each year the runners of the Trail du Salagou. It’s around its named lake, near Clermont-l'Hérault, that it takes place. This trail is your chance to enjoy the lake and its autumn colors 🍁 . The routes offered aren’t the most technical and therefore provide an accessible nature run for everyone. And even if the elevation isn’t crazy, you’ll still find a few more challenging sections. This will be a chance to enjoy the typical landscape of the department, known for its reddish soils. In October, you can run during the Héraultese Indian Summer, under pleasant temperatures. Surrounded by poplars and reed beds, Mediterranean vegetation, this will be an exhilarating trail you’ll have the opportunity to do 🌳.

À la carte, 4 parcours sont disponibles. Deux trails courts : the Mini-Trail of 5 km or the Presque’île on 13 km. For a slightly longer route, you get the chance to go on the tour of the lake, from 25 km or the Salagou Marathon on 42 km obviously. 🛶

À la croisée de trois grands parcs naturels, which are the Causses, the Haut-Languedoc and the Cévennes, this will be a wide palette of colors that will unfold for you. The vegetation of the hills and wooded trails with autumn scents will contrast with the dazzling red of la Ruffe. But Jamy, what is la Ruffe? A little cultural note : It’s a sedimentary rock in a dry red color, notably visible in the Hérault 🍂 . And yes, you’ll find all this in France, how beautiful our country is! To this rainbow of colors, will add the blue of Salagou lake and the banks of Clermont l’Hérault. Finally, you’ll get a magnificent view overlooking Salagou lake. As you’ve guessed, this trail is unique in its kind; don’t miss it.

Once your race is over, you can resume your adventure in the Hérault. We recommend a quick detour to the Clamouse caves or the Demoiselles ⛰ . We’ll allow a detour to Cirque de Navacelles, listed as UNESCO World Heritage, or to the village of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert. Want to discover a regional culinary specialty?
