In Saint-Igny-de-Vers, in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Sanglier Trail offers 4 trail running distances (10, 15, 27 and 40 km) with elevations up to 1,980 mD+. Saint-Igny-de-Vers, in the Rhône, hosts the Trail du Sanglier 🐗 for running among marcassins in the month of March ❄️. This commune in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, located between Mâcon and Roanne, hosts this trail since 2018 and brings together many participants to sing "Hakuna Matata" 🎶. But what should you expect for this 5th edition? 🤔 Well, something big! Yes, really big, Pumbaa! This trail race offers 4 distances : 10 km with a climb of 440 mD+, 15 km with 700 mD+, 27 km with 1 270 mD+ and finally the 40 km showing 1 980 mD+ 😮💨. Got it, it will be a climb! 🧗 For the kids, a slightly more chill race is meant for them. So, don’t hesitate to introduce them! 👧
These are almost exclusively a set of trails you’ll tread on (92% to be precise 👌) in this forest trail 🌲. The start is at the circuit of the Brosse at Saint-Igny-de-Vers 🐛. Heads up ⚠️ : the difficulty starts quickly 🚀. You’ll encounter rocks 🪨 and stairs to climb to reach the orientation table 🧭. You’ll cross the Viaduc de Chatelard before tackling the Mont Saint-Rigaud and the montagne du Charuge ⛰️. After climbing the Col de la Croix d’Ajoux, you’ll be able to catch your breath a bit 😬. The landscapes you’ll admire are breathtaking and you’ll enjoy panoramic views almost along the entire route 😍. An immersion deep in the forest with sublime scenery ✨, like the massif forestier du Haut Beaujolais. This is what the Trail du Sanglier 🐷. Do not confuse it with the Trail des Sangliers (in the Doubs)! This trail is part of the events of the Trail Tour Beaujolais. It’s the second race out of 8 other trails in the Beaujolais region! Completing all races in this challenge will earn you the overall standings 🏆 and a chance to rub shoulders with the top trail runners in the region 😎.
After your forest adventure, a wild boar will greet you at the finish line 🏁. Don’t worry, it’s just a mascot! We love and protect animals; this isn’t a bullfight! 😉 The friendly atmosphere will be the rule. You’ll also find showers available (to avoid that your scent lifts the hearts) and live bands 🎷 will be there to remind you that you’ll live life without a care (philosophy). It will also be a chance to take a little detour through the Jardins du Château de Drée 🌷 or in the town of Mâcon to savor a glass of Beaujolais 🍷 (moderation, of course 😌).
And for dinner? A wild boar, Par Toutatis! 🤤
