Escape spring in Occitanie with the Trail Quillan, in the heart of the Aude Pyrenees and the Quillan Circus. This loop offers 3 trails ranging from 11 km (D+ 350 m) to 18 km (700 m) and 28 km (1600 m D+) starting and finishing at Château de Quillan. The trails traverse preserved vegetation and offer viewpoints over the Belvédère du Diable and the gorges of the Pierre Lys. After the effort, enjoy Cochonnailles and cassoulet from the Pays de Sault and local AOC wines.
Spring in Occitanie is a haven for trail runners! In Aude, the Trail Quillan will show you the Pyrenees. As a launchpad for renowned excursions, the village is picturesque and guarantees an authentic nature race. 🍃
To tackle the Pyrenees of Aude, organizers invite you to take part in a hike or 3 trails. The hike features 11 km with an uphill gain of 350m, just like the first trail. The trail of 18 km has a positive elevation of 700m. Finally, the trail of 28 km climbs 1600m D+. Each time, it’s a loop starting and ending in a prestigious setting: Le Château de Quillan. 🏰
Regarding the course, the Trail of Quillan emphasizes trails amid lush vegetation. As you guessed, it’s very hilly. You’ll run right through the heart of the cirque de Quillan, with many climbs and technical descents 🏃. Up there, you’ll enjoy stunning viewpoints, such as the Belvédère du Diable, in the heart of the gorges de la Pierre Lys. You’ll be surrounded by firs, pines, oaks and even garrigue. 🌲
After the race, we recommend loading up on cochonnailles from the Pays de Sault and Montagne Noire, from poulardes of Lauragais, from cassoulet and AOC wines. The perfect match, in short. 😋
