Trails des Lacs de Chamrousse-Belledonne (TLCB)

Renowned for its ski resort which also hosted the 1968 Winter Olympics, the Chamrousse is also and above all a land of trail! 🏃‍♂️ Indeed, amid the lakes 🌅 and the Alpine peaks ❄️, this commune in the Isère, in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, is the place to be for the awesome runner you are! 🤝 And that’s perfect, because today we’re taking you to one of the region’s most beautiful races: we’re talking, of course, about the Trail des Lacs de Chamrousse-Belledonne (TLCB)! 😉

Organized at the end of September, this trail will let you discover Chamrousse in its autumn version 🍂. After ski season, the town indeed transforms into a beautiful small village in the middle of the mountains ⛰️ and the forest 🌲 where all kinds of outdoor activities can be enjoyed: hiking 🥾, MTB 🚲, climbing 🧗🏻‍♂️, … But above all you’ll find incredible trail routes, each more technical than the last 🏃‍♂️.

The Trail des Lacs de Chamrousse-Belledonne offers several extraordinary routes! 🗺️ This year, four routes are available: the "Trail Sportif" (23.2 km - 1 700 mD+), the "Trail Classique" (13 km – 810 mD+), the "Trail Découverte" (4.5 km – 350 mD+) and the "Trail Jeunes" (about 1.3 km). This trail will take you to discover some of the region’s most beautiful water spots: the fabulous Lac Achard, the Lacs Roberts but also the Lac des Pourettes or the Lac des Vallons… 🏞️ You’ll see, the Trail des Lacs de Chamrousse-Belledonne, is above all a walk to meet the region’s most beautiful lakes 🐟.

There are those who love the mountains, and those who prefer the sea during summer holidays 🌞, but know that it’s entirely possible to enjoy both. By taking part in the Trail des Lacs de Chamrousse-Belledonne, you’ll discover some of the region’s most beautiful summits of Isère... But you’ll also get to explore several incredible water spots like the Lacs Roberts. A quirky name for a lake, we grant you! 😂 Yet, located at 1 998 meters above sea level, this group of four lakes is famous for its uniquely blue color! 😎 These four lakes are also home to countless rainbow trout and nine-spotted blue butterflies 🐟. Ready for a fishing session mid-trail? 🎣 You’ll also discover the Lac Achard and its breathtaking view of the Taillefer massif 🏔️. Don’t hesitate to pause a moment to enjoy the silence 🤫, take in the view, the centuries-old pines, the sedums (crassulacean plants with pink flowers… Thanks Wikipedia 😅), the cobwebs… 🕸️

Finally, you can make this race a chance to discover Chamroussethis small village at the southern edge of the Belledonne range! Just 30 km south of Grenoble, Chamrousse is a tiny mountain village of about 470 inhabitants in the Belledonne massif 📍. The resort is nestled in a lush forest, offering a spectacular view of Grenoble and its valley… 😲 A true haven to focus on the race and reconnect with the nature 🌿. The village offers stunning landscapes: on the horizon, green mountains, pines, and that azure-blue water reflecting the sky! 🥰 If you’re lucky, you might even spot ibex, chamois, deer, red foxes, wild boar, and even some marmots! 🐐

And, what do you do after the race? If you’ve still got energy, you can try the rock climbing route 🧗🏻‍♂️ or rent a paddle at Roche Lake! 🏄‍♂️ You can stroll around the largest lake in the resort and enjoy a mind-blowing panorama 🤩, with an amazing view of the surrounding ranges. Finally, we recommend tasting some of the region’s specialties like gratin dauphinois or Saint-Félicien, paired with a good glass of wine or Chartreuse 🍷.
