La course commence par une épreuve de natation dans les eaux calmes du réservoir de Vidraru, avant de passer à l'une des routes cyclables les plus emblématiques au monde, célèbre pour ses virages en épingle à cheveux et ses paysages montagneux spectaculaires. Le parcours de course à pied poursuit le défi avec un itinéraire pittoresque mais exigeant qui culmine avec une ascension emblématique : 390 marches menant à la statue de Prométhée, un pylône électrique transformé en un monument imposant dominant le paysage.
