Want to gain some height ⛰ and traverse stunning landscapes on a 125 km trail? Set off to Ethiopia 🇪🇹 for a race at the heart of nature, up in the mountains. Meet in the northern part of the country to reach Gondar, the country’s former 👑 capital, replaced by Addis Ababa in 1886, and yes, no one is irreplaceable! 🤷♀️ The Treg Simien Trail takes place in March, in the Amhara region to offer you a sporty journey 🏃 and unique discoveries. Take a deep breath, but save some for the peaks, and pack your bags for the flight! 🧳 Because the main guest of the trip is indeed the altitude 💨, which will also give you breathtaking viewpoints.
Five stages over nine days 🗓, the announced plan to enjoy a perfect moment. For the first days, wake-ups ⏰ are at dawn to reach the different trail starting points. But don’t panic, Ethiopia is among the top 5 largest coffee producers ☕ in the world, so you’ll have plenty of energy to power you through the day! 👯 Get ready, because the trails are rocky 🪨 and some sections run along a cliff edge, so a fully immersive experience awaits there. As the days progress, the landscapes will become grander 🌟, just like the altitude 📈 that climbs gradually, perfect for acclimating well. Then a US immersion could be on the cards? During your journey, you’ll set foot in the rival of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado 🏜, the Simien National Park. An awe-inspiring place where massive erosion has created a unique natural site 🌱, with peaks, valleys and sheer cliffs.
All along the trail, you’ll encounter animals and your tent ⛺ at night will close. Ethiopia is a country home to many animals, some quite rare. The most iconic is the Walia ibex, a goat 🐐 from the mountains that lives only here! Given its horns, you won’t be able to miss it.
