Today we’re not joking. Head to the African continent, to the Kenya 🇰🇪, more precisely, where an exceptional race has been crafted for you. Why "exceptional"? Well, because it will let you experience an immersive experience in the Kenyan landscape and culture through its concept. Indeed, it takes place over several days. The Kimbia Kenya is another baby of an Exaequo Voyage we’re presenting. After the Cabo Verde Ribiera Trail, the Norway Fjord Trail, The Irish Trail and the Petra Jordan Trail, this is in the beautiful East African country where you’ll have the chance to complete one of the two distances offered in this 5-stage race: 55.5 km (701 mD+ / 555 mD-) and 95.7 km (1 425 mD+ / 1 250 mD-) 🤩.

The stay, offered since 2012, is also sporty and cultural 👌. The organizers of this race have left nothing to chance: the excursion spans 9 days, with 5 stages of running, the rest devoted to discovering key sites and relaxing 💆‍♀️. This isn’t your typical race, as you’ve guessed, but truly an atypical event ! Two distances are offered to runners: a 55.5 km (to be completed while running or in walking 🏃‍♀️🚶‍♀️) and an ultra of 95.7 km (open only to runners). You’ll have stage standings, as well as an overall ranking at the end of the stay. But, you’ll see, the competition won’t be the focus: you’ll be far too focused on the beauty of the route ! 😉

There’s even a stage planned on a small island in the middle of the country, on the Naivasha Lake... 🏊‍♀️ During these 5 days, you’ll walk the lush paths of the Great Rift Valley 🌿. One of the stages even involves running around the Elmentaita Lake ! Also, the region of Navaisha will open up to you, and you’ll be able to visit the town of Gilgil, for a true insight into Kenyan life. There are single-track trails and field crossings that will let you see locals, workers, farmers and schoolchildren. And on that note, brace yourself: the children may welcome you like a star! ⭐️ But, don’t forget you’re there to run! Thus, a major stage will push you to the limit: the ascent toward the picturesque mountain village at altitude of Eburru, climbing to over 2 700 m 🙄. You’ll also pass through Crescent Island, an island where you’ll encounter waterbucks,waterbucks, antelopes,zebras, gnus,giraffes is common. Finally, the unmissable Hell’s Gate will cap off this trip 🔥. The nature reserve will captivate you with its geysers as hot as hell (hence the name "the gate of hell" 😈) and its two extinct volcanoes Olkaria and Hobley 🌋. There you have it! And as if you needed another reason: know that this challenge is ethical. The organization’s goal is strong, aiming to provide lasting support to children’s education and assist the country’s poorest communities through concrete actions (building or renovating classrooms, buying desks… 👏). The project lasts not only during the Kimbia Kenya, but before and after the event! 👍

Neighboring South Sudan, the Somalia, the Uganda and Tanzaniathe Kenya is famous, among other things, for its parks (26) and its reserves (34), which cover a large portion of the territory, whether on land or at sea 🌍. Five of these areas are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
