Triathlon du Lac du Bouchet

Lac 💧 or volcan 🔥, all we know is that it could be explosive at the Lac du Bouchet Triathlon ! 💪 It won’t be lava flowing during this event, but rather sweat droplets 🥵. To make it happen, we’ll meet in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, in the Massif du Devès ⛰️, in Haute-Loire! You’ll have the chance to enjoy a natural setting 🌿 around a lake at 1 200 m altitude and in the heart of the forests 🥰. “But tell us Jammy, why does this lake have the same shape as a crater?” 🤔 Well, you, mighty triathlete, are about to swim in an ancient volcano! 🤯 Lava and water met deep in the Earth’s crust 🌍 to form a crater at the origin of the Lac du Bouchet 🤓. But there’s no time to get lost in the details, because we’ve got plenty of triathlon events to introduce! 😉

On the docket for this 40th edition: triathlons S, M, L and XL as well as swimruns S and M. Yes, there will be something for everyone! This will be the opportunity, on this holiday weekend of July 14 🎉, to celebrate triathlon and share the passion, among beginners and seasoned competitors alike 🤗. The Lac du Bouchet Triathlon is set to wow you! 😂 The events span two days, giving you plenty of time to recharge in a pristine natural setting 🍃. Saturday will focus on the shorter distances such as the Triathlon S with 650 m of swimming 🏊‍♂️, 20.5 km of cycling (460 mD+) 🚴 and 5.2 km of running 🏃‍♂️, the Swimruns S (8.5 km) and M (17 km) and the Triathlon M with 1 200 m of swimming, 34 km of cycling (550 mD+10 km of running 👟. One thing’s for sure, it’s going to heat up! 🌡️ Especially with the summer sun 🌞, don’t forget the sunscreen 🧴 if you don’t want your skin to be as hot as volcanic rock 🪨. You’ll need to slap on a double dose to tackle the long-distance event on Sunday! You’ll have to train hard to finish the Long Distance Triathlon, which features 2 700 m of swimming, 82 km of cycling (with 1 425 mD+ 😬) and 20 km of running on forest trails 🌲. And to finish, the Bouchet’s behemoth: the Triathlon XL with its 2.7 km of swimming, 107 km of cycling and 1 908 mD+, and finally 20 km of running (if that final rest isn’t enough 😬​). We hope we didn’t scare you with these distances 😅. But don’t panic! 😁 The organizers have thought of everything and offer all the events as relay for two or three 🤝. Likewise for the swimruns which will be run as a team of 2 🧑‍🤝‍🧑. You’ll be able to start solo if you’re chasing the clock⏱️, or in a group if you want to share a sporting experience with friends or family! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

By the way, speaking of family and friends, the Lac du Bouchet is the perfect spot to spend time together! 😌 There’s no shortage of activities on the site: forest hiking 🥾, mushroom picking 🍄, fishing spots 🎣, boat rentals and pedal boats 🚣‍♂️, a kids’ corner 🧒 and supervised swimming in summer... It almost feels like a sea shore 🌊 with cicadas singing! 🎶 But no, you’re right between the municipalities of Cayres and Bouchet-Saint-Nicolas 🏘️, between the Loire Loire and the Allier, just 25 km from Puy-en-Velay 📍. In the surroundings, you’ll easily spot some natural wonders ✨ (sticking with the weekend theme). We recommend a detour to the Cascade de la Beaume (if you hadn’t seen enough water) and explore the narrow lanes of the village of Arlempdes 🏰. Its castle, perched above the village ⬆️, will challenge your legs a bit more 🦵, but we know you’ll need more to give up 😜.
