Ultra Trail Amazonica

Forget Caipirinhas 🍸 and Feijoada—it's time to lace up your trail shoes and spend two days right in the heart of the world’s densest forest 🌲🌎.

Head north to Brazil 🇧🇷, more precisely to Manaus, near Tarumã Mirim, for the Ultra Trail Amazonica, on the first weekend of November. Tropical vibes guaranteed! As we’re at the tail end of the dry season, temperatures can still swing (yes!) between 26°C and 40°C 🌡️ during the day. But there’s no time to soak up sun ☀️, because in an ultra-trail you’re here to run 🏃, but also to climb! All in Non-Stop Survivor, i.e., no breaks, and self-supported. Moreover, this event features several distances split into two parts. For the seasoned, courses of 160 km, 110 km and 80 km will be offered with a 🏁 start on November 1 from Livramento Beach 🏝️. Elevation changes of 2,127 m to 4,333 m for the longest route. I’d say your thighs 🦵 are going to be on fire! 🔥

If you choose the remaining distances (8 km, 17 km, 22 km, 37 km and 55 km), you’ll start on November 2 from the same spot. So if jungle vibes aren’t your thing for more than 100 km, you can still join for a shorter experience 🤏. Through vines, ancient trees 🌳, and along the banks of Rio Negro, you’ll encounter ranchs 🌾, farms 🐔 and local indigenous communities . On the other hand, it won’t be all sunshine! After all, a tropical forest means rootssteep terrain and creeks. So watch your footing to avoid the big slip of the century! An ultra-trail isn’t a walk in the park 🍰. That said, don’t worry— there will be water refills every 8 to 10 km! Avoid unfiltered water, it could turn ugly… 😅. For meals, you’ll rely on checkpoint food stations offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner! 🍽️

If you want to truly experience the Amazon at 100%, this is the moment! 🏎️ A 5 km race will take place in the village 🏘️ where the Tatuyo people live (Tatuyo people), on October 31. But that’s not all! After a short drive 🚗, you can dive into their culture by watching cultural and dancing performances 💃

Competing in the Ultra-Trail Amazonica means passing through Manaus 🌆, the 7th city in the country. There’s no shortage of things to discover around town. If you have time after your race, we encourage you to visit the stunning Teatro Amazonas (the Manaus Opera House) 🎼, dating from the 19th century. You can also take a refresher at the Museu da Amazonia which will teach you more about the local fauna 🐐 and flora 🌸 you might have missed during your expedition. Plus, it’s located in the Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve, immersive for sure! 💯 When it comes to food, there are a few musts: the Tambaqui (a fish stew with spices, eggs, olive oil and tucupi sauce) 🐟, the Tacacá, a hot soup 🥣 made with tucupi and dried shrimp 🍤. And to finish on a sweet note: a manioc crepe 🥞 called Tapioquinha !
