Near Plouzané at the start, the Trail du Bout du Monde offers three distances (11, 20, 37 or 57 km) to follow the Breton coastline, between sea and cliffs, with Brest and the Côte d’Iroise in the background. Varied routes between iconic landmarks such as Pointe Saint-Mathieu, Petit Minou lighthouse, and Anse de Bertheaume, solo or in a duo. Registration by lottery, and a friendly atmosphere with spectators and musicians.
In the absence of stamping your feet at the Festival du Bout du Monde, here you’ll mostly be running facing the endless ocean. Yes, you’re precisely at the very tip of Brittany! 🌊
July in Finistère ☀️ is the perfect time to dive into an exceptional run. The Trail du Bout du Monde — or TBM for short — is a full program with Brest and the Iroise Coast in the backdrop. So set course for Plouzané, sailor!
Stage the Challenge Ouest Trail Tour, this major Breton trail offers three distances to discover, between coast and cliffs, the sublime landscapes of the region. Your choice awaits: 11km, 20 km, 37 km or 57 km (solo or in a duo) which will, in any case, take you along the southern coastline 🔭.
After you reach the start point, it’s full speed ahead 💨 ! Here’s a bit more detail on what you’re about to experience in this Brest-area trail. The 20 km will loop you past the magnificent Pointe Saint-Mathieu, Le Conquet, the imposing Phare de Kermorvan and the beautiful cove of the Blancs Sablons. The intermediate distance starts at Plouzané, taking you to the Phare du Petit Minou and to the discovery of its beautiful Anse de Bertheaume, and the nearby gem Fort, these places will lose none of their mystery for you. You’ll then head toward Pointe Saint-Mathieu to complete your Breton immersion, eyes wide at the richness of these landscapes. And to finish the Stage of 57 km will let you tread the route of the two previous races, which is what you call getting two birds with one stone! 😎
A mix of single-tracks, cliffs, stairs, beachesGR34, steps, and sand: in short, this is a multi-dimensional trail that fully lives up to its name, with plenty of spectators and musicians cheering you on every stride. 🥁
If you’ve still got some energy left, you can visit the pristine islands of Molène and Ouessant or head to the other shore to discover the splendid Presqu’île de Crozon and the port of Camaret-sur-Mer, where you can savor a giant bowl of moules frites. Mmm, pure delight! 😋
