Le 5 km unifié et l’AdaptXpo constituent une course sur route inclusive et un salon dédié aux sports adaptés, visant à promouvoir l’esprit communautaire et l’accessibilité au sport pour les personnes présentant un handicap intellectuel ou physique. L’événement encourage la participation à travers diverses activités telles que la course à pied, la marche, le roller ou l’aviron. AdaptX, l’organisme organisateur, s’attache à lever les obstacles à la santé et à la forme physique par le biais de l’éducation, de la recherche, de la défense des droits et de l’octroi de bourses. Il gère le laboratoire de recherche Rick Hoyt afin d’améliorer les résultats en matière de condition physique. Les recettes soutiennent des initiatives visant à rendre l’activité physique accessible à tous, notamment par le biais du Fonds de bourses et d’ambassadeurs, qui s’attaque aux obstacles socio-économiques.
