L'University City Turkey Trot est une course communautaire annuelle organisée le jour de Thanksgiving, comprenant une course/marche de 5 km, une course ludique pour les enfants et un concours de costumes. Des prix sont remis aux gagnants toutes catégories et par tranche d'âge, ainsi qu'aux costumes les plus créatifs. Cet événement soutient Sickle Cell Partners of the Carolinas, une organisation à but non lucratif qui vient en aide aux personnes atteintes de drépanocytose.
